“front of house” is the spot in a venue where everything comes together. The sound desk, the technicians, the position from which the whole stage finally reads as one clear picture.
That is where I set up. From there I could hold the overview and the detail at the same time, the light, the gear, the people on stage. I was less interested in a single peak moment than in the full situation around it.
With the large format camera the concert turns into something calm and precise. Not a snapshot caught on the fly, but a complete record of how the room and the show fit together.
