“pedale treten” is an ongoing project about the edges of professional cycling.

A race is over in seconds. Before the riders arrive and long after they have gone, what stays is the place. Spectators leaning into a corner, banners moving in the wind, the slow build of anticipation along the road.

I am not trying to tell the story of the winner. I am drawn to the stage and to the people who turn an ordinary street into a stadium for one afternoon. The stillness around the speed is what I keep coming back to.
